11 Instagram Stories Tips and Tricks to Help You Stand Out

Instagram is best known for its filters that you can use to beautify your photos and videos. But there are also tons of customization options embedded in Instagram's story feature.

Whether you want to change the background color of your Instagram story or add music to your Instagram story, we have all the tips and tricks you need to stand out from the crowd.

By default, Instagram gives you pretty limited color options. The color slider is accessible at the bottom of the screen and you can choose from a total of 27 preset colors. But what if you want the full color spectrum so that you can choose the exact color variant?

Fortunately, there is a hidden trick that allows you to access the full range of colors. To change the color of the text, tap Aa and then click the color palette icon at the top of the screen. Here, long tap on any color in the existing color slider and select the custom color of your choice.

You can do the same thing to change the pen color as well. Just click the sign icon (which looks like a scribble) in the top menu. From here, you can long tap any of the colors at the bottom of the screen.

In any case, you get a wide range of colors. Just drag your finger across the spectrum to choose a custom color of your choice.

Sometimes you may just want to share text and drawings instead of a photo or video. If you're wondering how to change the background color of your Instagram story, you're in luck. The good folks at Instagram added a super handy feature that lets you create solid backgrounds right away.

To do this, take a picture as usual and tap the drawing icon at the top of the screen. Here, select the color that you want to use as a solid background.

Then, long tap the screen for about three seconds. The screen should now be filled with a solid background. You can also select the chisel pen icon and repeat the process to create a semi-transparent Instagram Stories background.

What if you want to draw attention to a new post? With Instagram you can insert a post into your story and thus easily promote or draw attention to a current post.

First, navigate to the post that you want to include in your story. Click the paper airplane icon below the photo and choose They add contribution to your story .

Instagram automatically generates a background color based on the colors in the post. However, if you want to change this, just follow the directions in the previous step.

Not only can you drag the post onto your screen and resize it, but Instagram also gives you the option to include the post's caption. If you want to see the caption, just tap the post.

Not only can you customize the color of your text. You can also change the font. Just tap that Aa- Icon and you can scroll through the Instagram carousel with different fonts. Instagram's choices include everything from dainty fonts to brilliant, bold text.

To make your text stand out better, consider adding a frame or a special effect. At the top of the font editing screen, tap the sparkling one A- Symbol. Instagram will add an effect or frame to your font (depending on which font you choose). Keep tapping the icon to view other variations.

Instagram comes pre-installed with a library of songs that you can easily add to your story. To search for a title, tap the sticker icon in the top menu bar, then select the sticker labeled Music off .

This will take you to a music selection screen. You can choose from the latest hits and recommended songs from Instagram, or search for a specific tune. Once you've decided on a song, you can see the song sticker appear on your story.

At the bottom of the screen you can edit which part of the song you want to play. By default, Instagram will play the clip for 15 seconds. However, you can customize this by tapping the number in the lower left corner of the screen.

Instagram also allows you to change the style of the music sticker. Tap the music sticker to see all of the album art, then tap again for a more condensed look. You can also change the color of the sticker by clicking the color palette icon at the top of the screen.

If you are satisfied with the look and sound of your song, click at the top right of the screen Finished . You can now drag the music sticker across the screen and resize it to your liking.

In case you don't want to add a video or picture that is happening in the current moment, you can always upload older pictures to your story. To do this, click the button as usual Your history .

Instagram sticker collection contains several types of interactive stickers. Whether you're including a poll, asking a question, or surveying your followers, adding any of these prompts can make your story a lot more fun.

Note that you will need to provide additional information when pasting these stickers (such as entering a question). Apart from that, they behave like normal stickers.

Instagram makes it easy to download your stories. If you've taken a photo or video for your story but haven't posted it yet, you can tap the arrow button at the top of the screen. This will save your photo or video instantly.

However, if you've already posted the story, open your story, tap the three dots in the lower right corner of the story, and click Save them on photo . Your story should now be saved in your gallery / camera roll.

Unfortunately, this trick won't let you download someone else's story. An obvious workaround is to take a screenshot of their story. Alternatively, there are some third-party Instagram reposting apps to save others' stories. You can give them a chance, but keep in mind that they are full of advertisements.
