RESTYLANE® - Introduction

- Minimum effort with maximum results -

Rejuvenation with the syringe instead of the scalpel - this is currently the biggest trend in aesthetic medicine. The Swedish biotechnology company Q-Med makes an important contribution with the unique hyaluronic acid filler Restylane®.

"Beauty is more effective than all letters of recommendation" once said the Greek philosopher Aristotle. An insight that seems to be more valid today than ever. According to current studies, more and more people are using the possibilities of modern aesthetic medicine to keep their youthful, fresh appearance. However, the majority still shy away from major operations for fear of general anesthesia, remaining scars and long regeneration phases.

The Swedish biotechnology company Q-Med offers Restylane® - the first FDA-approved non-animal injectable hyaluronic acid - a gentle and effective alternative to surgical lifting. General risks that can arise from general anesthesia and the follow-up treatment after an operation do not arise with the minimally invasive treatment with Restylane®.

As an endogenous substance, hyaluronic acid is an important component of connective tissue and, due to its high water-binding capacity, plays a key role in the appearance of the skin. However, with increasing age, the skin's own hyaluronic acid content decreases. The result: the skin loses its firmness and fine lines and wrinkles appear.

Restylane® is based on the NASHA ™ technology patented by Q-Med for the production of a stabilized, non-animal hyaluronic acid. The crystal clear gel is similar to the hyaluronic acid present in the human body and is therefore low in allergies and very well tolerated. During the treatment, Restylane® is injected into the middle to deep dermis in very small amounts. It is only anesthetized locally with a cream. The result: the skin regains its volume, its elasticity is improved, annoying lines are visibly smoothed and the facial contours tightened. Thanks to the patented stabilization, the positive treatment effect lasts up to 18 months, in contrast to comparable tissue fillers. The gel is broken down evenly over this time and disappears from the body without leaving any traces.

Since its introduction in 1996, Restylane® has successfully established itself in the market for immediate aesthetic treatments on the face worldwide and is to date one of the best researched tissue fillers. More than 11 million treatments in over 70 countries and 66 scientific publications substantiate both the effectiveness and the safety of Restylane®.

The entire Restylane portfolio now includes seven products in different formulations - tailored to the most varied of skin areas and requirements: from smoothing wrinkles and modeling facial contours to building up the lips or a long-lasting moisture depot in the skin. Depending on their area of application, the seven different Restylane products are used as tissue fillers, for skin rejuvenation or for tissue augmentation.

Treatment with Restylane Touch ™ is ideal for correcting very fine, superficial facial wrinkles such as in the perioral or periorbital area. Injected into the upper dermis, this particularly fine, stabilized hyaluronic acid is also perfect for smoothing out acne scars.

Restylane® is specially designed for the correction of moderate facial wrinkles such as forehead and glabellar lines as well as laugh and marionette lines (mentolabial lines). This unique product from the Restylane® family is the first FDA-approved, hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler for beauty treatments and is injected into the middle dermis.

Restylane Perlane ™ is used to treat deeper lines and wrinkles such as nasolabial folds. The product is also ideal for contouring the face and emphasizing certain areas of the face. For the subtle build-up of volume, the injection area of Restylane Perlane ™ is in the lower dermis and / or that of the upper subcutis.

The fourth Restylane® filler in the field of tissue fillers was developed for the special requirements of the highly dynamic lip anatomy: Restylane Lipp ™. Here, the hyaluronic acid is structured in such a way that it withstands the stresses associated with typical mouth movements and enables the lip structure to last for a long time. In order to build fuller lips, however, it is essential that a treatment plan is first created with a view to the final appearance. For the best results, Restylane Lipp ™ is applied approximately two millimeters into the dermis and under no circumstances into the lip muscle.

Q-Med's skin rejuvenation products Restylane Vital ™ and the new Restylane Vital Light ™ supply the skin from the inside with an extra portion of moisture. Restylane Vital ™ improves the elasticity and evenness of the skin and is ideal for rejuvenating mature, sun-damaged skin. Restylane Vital Light ™ was specially designed for the needs of younger skin. The particularly fluid and soft gel adapts well to sensitive skin areas and is therefore suitable for very sensitive skin areas such as the neck and décolleté.

Restylane SubQ ™ is used for tissue augmentation. Its particularly large gel particles are specially designed for modeling facial contours and building volume on the chin and cheeks. It is injected deeply in order to obtain the desired fullness of the face through the added volume and to restore the balance and symmetry of the face. In addition, the product caters to a growing number of patients looking for less invasive and non-permanent alternatives to plastic surgery.
